Providing services across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, Inspire Wellbeing is registered charity and social enterprise whose mission is “wellbeing for all”. Their services provide vital support to people living with mental ill health, intellectual disability, autism and addictions. Inspire is proud to champion ” a community free from stigma and discrimination, and a culture of compassion that focuses on people and their abilities”.
The origins of Inspire and their ever-enduring strive to provide life-changing support services dates back over 60 years. Dame Margaret Wakehurst’s personal experience of supporting her own son who suffered from ill mental health inspired her to campaign for improved mental health services, as well as a change in societal attitudes towards mental health. Her tireless work led to the establishment of the Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health (NIAMH) in 1959.
